Note: the poems in this video deal with sexual violence. I had wanted to repost this during April, which is both National Poetry Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, but it slipped through the cracks of my to-do list. The first week in May will have to do.

I am happy that For My Son, A Kind of Prayer is in Veils, Halos & Shackles: International Poetry on the Oppression and Empowerment of Women. It’s an important anthology that I hope continues to get the attention it deserves. This reading, which took place shortly after the book’s publication at the Long Island Writers House on April 17th, 2017 was truly powerful. It was a privilege to be the first reader among such fine poets. I hope you’ll take a look at the video and, if you haven’t already, consider buying a copy of Veils, Halos & Shackles for yourself or someone else.
