Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter!
Like you, I sit at the center of a Venn diagram of overlapping communities, interests, and concerns. I’ve chosen the name It All Connects for this newsletter project because it represents the vantage point from which I make the connections that are most meaningful to me. Indeed, if I had to boil down to a single sentence the reason I write It All Connects, it would be this: It All Connects is for anyone who grapples with complexity—of identity, art-making, culture, and/or conscience—as a way of making a difference in their own life and, potentially, in the life of their community.
Generally speaking, publication follows this schedule:
- Long-form essays: The first Friday of the month
- Learning to Love The Questions: The second Friday of the month
- On My Desk Now: The third Friday of the month
- Four By Four: The fourth Friday of the month
Regardless of which tier you’ve chosen, I hope you see each issue you receive as a catalyst for the increasingly important conversations about our place in the world that we need to be having. On the paid tier, you’ll receive the next installment of It All Connects this coming Friday. In the meantime, if you’d like to check out the archive, you can do so here. Free-tier subscribers will start with the next issue of either “Learning To Love The Questions” or “Four By Four,” depending on where we are in the month. If you’d like a peek at what paid subscribers get, you can check out one or all of these free preview essays:
- The Ethics of Bearing Witness in Poetry to Violence and Trauma
- A Belated Gratitude
- Maybe I Do
- Israel & Palestine: Whose Side Are You On?
I thank you for reading more than you know—and I look forward to deepening our ongoing connection in the years to come.
With gratitude and in solidarity,
Richard
